Every now and then you stumble across an opportunity that draws you in and
commands your attention. Such was the case in the spring of 2002 when a
friend approached me with an idea she had to spread comfort, love, and
security to children in the form of a comfort pillow.
She told me the story of how it came to be, and how the very first pillow that
was hand-sewn, even in the crudest form, gave her son the ability to sleep
through the night by himself for the first time in almost nine years.
At
first my task was to record a
song that was adapted
from a poem my friend had written
several years before called “The
Gift of Love”. She wanted
it set to music and she wanted
me to sing it. I was honored to
do this for her.
What struck me most was the sincerity
and purity of both the words to
the poem, and of my friend’s
heart.
Having
two children of my own and opting
not to leave
town for long periods of time on
theatrical tours, I was searching
for a way to be creative without
leaving home and my family. So
along with my
friend, and the help of two other
business partners, we
